It is an honor to be considered a member-at-large candidate for the IEEE-USA Board of Directors. As an early to mid-career IEEE volunteer, I view the opportunity to serve the IEEE-USA membership as one small way to help return to the community the intangible benefits I’ve received over the years.

While IEEE is a 127-year-old institution, it continues to thrive because of its agility and responsiveness to the needs of its members.  For me, IEEE has been an exceptional institution that has supported my professional development with mentorship, training, and opportunities for technical exchanges from my undergraduate years to the present day.

At the core of the Institute is the energy and ingenuity of its volunteers, who organize and provide cutting-edge solutions, training, and connectivity to the benefit of all IEEE members.  With continued involvement of members of all ages and backgrounds, IEEE serves its members by creating new pathways for scientists and engineers to connect with each other and society.

It is the membership that supports IEEE’s motto, “Advancing Technology for Humanity” --a motto that I believe fully embodies one of the most significant features the Institute offers to the general public. With your vote, I hope to be an advocate and conduit for the interests of all members -- including the next generation of technology leaders within IEEE-USA.

Please peruse this site for more information on my experience, interests, and directions I hope to move IEEE-USA. A webform and my contact details are available if you have questions. You can also see my "Tweets" -- follow @ieeeusatierney at Twitter.com or look for me on LinkedIN.
